  YPM 5003 – Philosophy of Yoga & Meditation (3 credits)

 

In this course you will examine in an in-depth manner the history of Yoga, its root culture and the streams which have shaped Yoga as we understand it. These include the Upanishads, Vedanta, Samhkya, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga tradition, and the philosophy and psychology upon which Yoga is premised. You will look at the application and benefits of Yoga and meditation to modern life. In order to successfully complete this course, you will complete weekly assignments and discussions, submit a research paper and complete a final examination/research paper. No prerequisites necessary.
